Our history

LAUFFER Pressen stands for progress with tradition. Founded in 1872, our company built it's first hydraulic press in 1927. Since then, thousands of our presses and systems are in use with our customers. World-wide at 365 days per year.

The foundation (1872)

In 1972, Johann Martin Lauffer lays the foundation for LAUFFER PRESSEN by starting a locksmith's shop in Mühlen am Neckar / Germany. At that time, the company is specialized in the maintenance and distribution of agricultural machinery.

The years 1914 - 1948

In 1914, the family's second generation takes over with Ernst Lauffer sen. and Wilhelm Lauffer. The company develops from a locksmithery to a producer of hydraulic presses, which aim at the wine- and juice producing industry.

The years 1949 - 1983

From 1949 to 1983, the company grows continuously. In the post-war area, Ernst Lauffer jun. and Richard Lauffer sen. continuously expand the product portfolio and specialize in hydraulic presses for industrial applications.

1976, the company moves to Horb / Germany, as space restrictions in the lead plant in Mühlen am Neckar slow down further growth.

1984 - date

In 1984, the Fourth Generation takes over with Hans-Martin and Richard Lauffer jun. Together with Heinrich Peper, they form the management board of LAUFFER PRESSEN.

Today's LAUFFER portfolio encompasses the whole range - from single presses to fully automated press systems. The LAUFFER business units serve the metal forming and powder metal industry, the plastics- and rubber processing industry as well as the electronics- and packaging industry.
